Leicestershire really IS the Heart of England.  Not only is it right in the mdidle of the county - but it is even heart-shaped (more or less!).

Most of the county is rolling dairy landscape, with the vague beginnings of the Pennine Hills beginning in the coal-bearing land around Coalville in the north-west. The City of Leicester sits squarely in the centre of the county with other towns such as Lutterworth, Melton Mowbray and Market Harborough spread around.

Andrew in Leicestershire

Leicestershire has a number of good Castles, the best being Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Belvoir, dominating above the Vale of Belvoir on the Lincolnshire border.
