The county of Somerset is one of the three counties of Wessex (along with Dorset and Wiltshire). It's landscape is divided into three very definite areas, from east to west, the Quantock Hills, the Somerset Levels and Exmoor. This is the county of Glastonbury and all that is weird and wonderful about the West of England. Amongst its towns and cities are two of the most breathtaking, Bath and Wells. Other towns include Taunton, Bridgewater and Yeovil.

This is also the land of Cider and Cheddar, originally named for the impressive landscape gash of Cheddar Gorge where the cheese is still matured in the caves.

Somerset's Castles are an erratic and strange bunch.  From genuine medieval Castles like Dunster and Farleigh Hungerford to oddities like The Black Castle in Bristol and Banwell near Weston-super-Mare. Not forgetting the most likely candidate for King Arthur's Camelot, the hillfort at Cadbury.
