WHITE SHEET CASTLE

Wiltshire

White Sheet Castle, Wiltshire

White Sheet Hill has not one but two Iron Age Hill Forts standing at its top, one with three ditches calling itself "Castle", the other one is simpler and less intact and just calls itself "White Sheet Hill".

Little information is apparent about either of these Forts, although they have not survived the ensuing centuries very well, with an Bronze Age Burial Mound sitting over the ramparts of the smaller "White Sheet Hill".

The main reason for the yomp up the Hill is for the tremendous views, and to watch the almost constant stream of hang-gliders flinging themselves from what is one of the highest points in Wiltshire.
