VANBRUGH CASTLE

Kent

Vanbrugh Castle, Kent

As it's name suggests, Vanbrugh Castle was designed and built by Sir John Vanbrugh (that great architect of such noble houses as Castle Howard in Yorkshire).

It stands on the edge of Greenwich Park, and boasts a blue plaque (being just about the only Castle to do so!).  Sir John built it as his home and the views from the rooms must be wonderful indeed, down across the Park to the Thames far below.

The Castle today is rented as private flats.
