STARBOROUGH CASTLE

Surrey

Starborough Castle, Surrey

Not a great deal remains of the Starborough Castle built by Sir Reginald de Cobham around 1341.  A few bits of curtain wall dot the site here and there, and the very wide moat is still intact. The remainder was destroyed by the Roundheads in 1648.

The Castle is included if nothing else for the excellent, moody photo taken by Andrew at the end of a long day's Castle hunting.

The Castle site is occupied by a private residence.
