ROXBURGH
Roxburghshire
is one of the Border Counties on the Eastern side of the border with
England. It is an area of dramatic valleys and hills, largely rural
with a few historic towns such as Jedburgh, Kelso, Hawick and Melrose.
It is also home to three of the great Border Abbeys (Jedburgh, Kelso
and Melrose), the fourth Dryburgh being in Berwickshire. Like several
other Border counties it is dominated by the mighty River Tweed which
winds its way through the county.
Being positioned on the Border it
has a large number of Castles and Towerhouses; including famous ones
such as Jedburgh, Hermitage and Floors.
