CASTLES OF ROSS AND CROMARTY

At present we haven't visited any Castles in this County.

Map of Ross and Cromarty

The twin counties of Rosshire and Cromartyshire (usually called Ross and Cromarty) go from the east coast to the west coast and includes the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. Although largely Highland mountain landscape, there is a great variance from the green fields of the Black Isle in the east to the Lochs and Glens of the West Coast. The whole area is very sparsely populated with only a few towns, Cromarty, Ullapool and Strathpeffer being the largest, as well as Stornoway on Lewis.

There are a number of great Castles throughout this county, including one of the most famous Scottish castles of them all, Eilean Donan.
