Map of Perthshire

DOUNE

Perthshire is one of the largest counties in Scotland. Sitting north of Fife and not far from the central areas of Scotland it also has a lot of very important historic sights both in and around the City of Perth itself. Other towns include Dunblane, Dunkeld, Pitlochry, Blair Atholl and Crieff. The lower parts of the county border the mighty Tay and Forth Rivers, but as you head north the land becomes increasingly mountainous and the Grampians begin.

As the lowlands transform to the highlands throughout the county it is also home to a vast number of Castles, including such famous structures as Blair, Castle Menzies, Doune and Mains. As well as the Palace of Scone, ancient coronation site of the Scottish Royal Family.
