BOTHWELL

Lanarkshire is dominated in the north by the City of Glasgow, the largest in Scotland. As you travel further south the terrain becomes more mountainous and bleak. Elsewhere there are a lot of satellite towns to Glasgow including Motherwell, Lanark, East Kilbride, Coatbridge, Wishaw, Muirhead and Airdrie.

There are a large number of Castles in the county, including several well-known examples, but it is one of those areas that gets by-passed by tourists travelling further north.
