HOPE CASTLE

Shropshire

Hope Castle, Shropshire

This handsome motte crowned with dramatically dead elm trees stands in one of those delightfully named Shropshire villages (there are also Castles at the villages of Knockin, Myddle and Lower Down!).

No great history is attached to the Castle, although it may have originally been called "Lady House", the modern rebuild of which is north east of here.  The Castle stands by a public footpath.
