HOLT CASTLE

Worcestershire

Holt Castle, Worcestershire

Holt Castle is quite an old building, the oldest part being the "Castle" bit - the fortified tower which is now the main entrance to the building.  This was constructed around 1350 by John Beauchamp.  The remainder of his original building has been submerged below a house built between the 1640s and 1760 when it was sold to the Earls of Dudley who have remained in possession of the Castle to the present day.

The Castle is a private residence, but can be viewed from public land.
