Fishleigh Castle, Devon

Nothing if not strange and obscure, this folly Castle stands on a footpath in the middle of fields a very long way from anywhere.  The climb up inside the squat tower doesn't provide a particularly stunning view...it is, after all, barely two meters tall!

It dates from 1879 - a little plaque over the door confirms this - but much else about this peculiar and oddly pleasing little folly is as mysterious as its position.
