CASTLES
OF DUNBARTONSHIRE
Click on the Castle Name below the map to see a photo and read about the Castle.

The traditional county of Dunbartonshire (sometimes Dumbartonshire) is
a small area on the coast west and north of Glasgow with a small
exclave immediately north of the City. The county has both a coastline
on the Firth of Clyde and the west shore of Loch Lomond. The only major
town is Dumbarton with Cumbernauld the latest settlement in the exclave
and Clydebank on the edges of Glasgow.
There are a large number of
Castles for such a small county, most famously at Dumbarton
itself.
