The Channel Islands (in order of size) Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm, are situated in the English Channel, just off the coast of Normandy.  They have more than a touch of France about them and enjoy the best weather in the United Kingdom.

Although the Queen is their head of state she is merely the Duke of Normandy - so the loyal toast on the Channel Islands is "To the Queen, our Duke".

Andrew at Mont Orguiel, Jersey

The islands were the only part of the UK occupied by the Nazis in WWII and bear many scars from the Occupation.  The best Castles are Elizabeth and Mont Orguiel (pictured above) on Jersey and Castle Cornet on Guernsey.
