Brompton Castle's position can only be described as "isolated"...it stands at the very end of a peninsula of England jutting into the hostile territory of Wales, surrounded on three sides by the enemy!

In fact the whole of the little bit of England sticking out into Wales is packed with Castles - an incredible 9 between Brompton Castle and Bromlow Castle!

There is, like so many of these border mottes, very little known history and the Castle has been included here because of the dramatic photograph taken just before a serious storm hit us!
