Bollitree Castle, Herefordshire

Bollitree is something of an oddity in this county of genuine ruins.  It is a folly ruin, built around the mid-1800s.  It seems to be ignored by virtually every form of documentation available and its history is obscure to say the least.  Books on follies ignore it, and "serious" books on Castles wouldn't deem to consider such a frivolous construction.

However, it is a well constructed folly, has few of the usual obvious exaggerations and has gone to the trouble of apeing the moat that a Castle of the kind it is imitating would almost certainly have had.

It now forms someone's back garden wall, but is visible from the road.
