RODBOROUGH SHAM FORT

Gloucestershire

Rodborough Sham Fort, Gloucestershire

Standing high and proud above the Cotswold town of Stroud on Rodborough Common is this sham Castle, built in 1761 by George Hawker.  It stands some 600 feet above sea level and is visible from some distance away.

Rodborough Common is now owned by the National Trust, but the Castle is currently unoccupied and being used for nothing more than a backdrop.
