The Musical Mouse Gets A Surprise
by Andrew J. Müller
It was a hot summer's day lazing in the sun
The musical mouse was there his tune just begun
He entertained the rats, the voles and the shrews
He played his zither and tapped his shoes
But suddenly the crowd disappeared in a flash
Without paying the mouse his requisite cash
And looming behind him he gulped when he saw
The big tabby cat with it's big tabby paw
It pounded towards him on spring-like feet
But the musical mouse would not know defeat
Instead of turning and running away
He hiked up his zither and began to play
The cat halted and stood mesmorised by the tune
And the mouse made it away not a moment too soon.
