The Musical Mouse Returns
by Andrew J. Müller
The musical mouse sat down by the river
Playing a delicate air upon his zither
Watching the fish leap in the spume
As they tried to hear his wonderous tune
A fisherman wandered by the bank
Onto a little chair he sank
And lashed rod and bait into the wet
And put into his mouth a lit cigarette
When he heard the ditty float on the breeze
He smiled because the tune did please
He looked around to find its source
But he couldn't see the mouse, of course
And the mouse finished up and ended his song
Packed up his zither and then he was gone.
