LEASOWE CASTLE

Cheshire

Leasowe Castle, Cheshire

This very handsome building is a mish-mash of building styles from Tudor to "mock gothick" mansion.

It stands at the head of the Wirral in modern day Merseyside and operates as an hotel.

The earliest part of the Castle, the typical Cheshire half-timbered house, was built for the Earl of Derby in 1593.  The gothick towers at either end were added in 1818.
