"Very very flat, Norfolk" was the phrase applied by Noel Coward. How it has stuck. True, it is flat - not as flat as Cambridgeshire, but flat nevertheless. But Norfolk has more to offer than any of the other Eastern counties. This was the birthplace of Admiral Lord Nelson, there is Sandringham, historic towns such as Norwich, Kings Lynn and Swaffham and the gloriously bleak coast from Great Yarmouth around to the Wash.
Norfolk too has the best of the Eastern counties' Castles. Including famous Castle Rising (above), the unique Buckenham, and the largest motte Castle in the UK at Thetford - an incredible height of just under 70 feet!
