Hertfordshire is a county dominated by its closeness to London which now encroaches on the southern parts of the county.  The Chiltern Hills cross the north and west of the county, and the historic town of St. Albans is in the south.

Hertfordshire is only a small county, but it has a few very interesting Castles from Bennington's half folly-half medieval Castle to the archetypical motte and bailey at Berkhamsted.
