HARVEY MAKES HIS MARK
by Andrew J. Müller
Harvey the Remarkable Cat
Sat in the window of the upstairs room
Staring down into the gardens
Looking at the summer flowers in bloom.
Next door Mr Jones was on his knees
Doing something with a bit of wood
Grumbling and hefting a bucket
Saying words Harvey never understood.
Then Jane called out Harveys name
It was Harveys dinner time - oh good!
And he forgot about Mr Jones funny job
Fish and Rabbit his favourite moggy food!
Later on, he was out in the garden
And he climbed up into the tree
Looking next door he saw a big grey expanse
He wondered what it could be.
So he jumped into Mr Jones garden
And went over to investigate the stuff
He prodded it with his paw
It was was wet and it was rough.
When he walked across the surface
He felt his little paws start to sink
So he ran back into his garden
Not quite sure what to think.
Next day Harvey heard Mr Jones shouting
He was jumping up and down - what a lark
And across his new concrete - a row of paw prints
Harvey the Remarkable Cat had left his mark!
