1988 was a funny sort of year. The experimentation of 1987 gave way to a more measured approach with the results being far more reliable. Andrew began to get deeper and deeper into photography and his photographic kit began to grow, with close-up lens, adaptor rings, dedicated and slave flash units and so forth, enabling ever more ambitious photos to be taken. Then on 21st March 1988 Roy threw everything into confusion by announcing he "wasn't coming down anymore". This temporary hole in the Raving Loony history was filled with Andrew and Shaun taking ever more elaborate photos so that by the time Roy came back on the scene, on 7th November 1988, the scene was set for some of their best photos ever.
