GALLERY '98: Picture Twenty-Six

The End Of The Earth

For centuries this was believed to be the Westernmost point in England - Cape Cornwall, the only Cape in England.  When better instruments were invented it turned out that Land's End, a couple of miles south, was also very slightly further west.

Andrew sat here at Cape Cornwall on a glorious July evening and watched the Sun set over the Atlantic, putting on a magnificent display.  The following day it rained solidly all day...oh well.

This day was 25th July 1998 and this is a timer shot.  The chimney stack in the background is a ventilation chimney for the tin mine which goes out underneath the sea from here.
