GALLERY '97: Picture Twenty-Six

What Hoe!

Andrew at the top of the Lighthouse on Plymouth Hoe, Devon. He had been visiting a few Castles in the area and stopped off to have a look around Plymouth - which turned out to be not the most beautiful town in Devon.  However, it was a lovely hot day and he did get to go up the Lighthouse on the Hoe (which is, in fact, the old Eddystone Light moved to the Hoe when the newer version was built off shore). This was the Hoe upon which Sir Francis Drake allegedly played bowls whilst the Spanish Armada got sunk off Ireland by a storm - a great English victory!
