Stormy Weather

The first stopover trip on the Castles of England project was to Cumbria - in February!

Needless to say the weather was absolutely appaling.  We couldn't get to Piel Island, the weather was so bad at Hardknott Pass that Andrew's tripod sank!!

Here is Roy clambering down the seacliff face in a howling gale having visited Aldingham Castle, which stands at the top of the cliff slowly being eroded onto the beach.  It was the first, but not the last, totally foolish thing we did on the Castles trips!
