GALLERY 2001 : Picture Twenty-One

According to legend The Giant's Causeway on the coast of County Antrim in Northern Ireland was created by the giant Finn MacCool to reach his beloved in Scotland (the other end of his bridge is supposedly Fingal's Cave on Staffa off the Scottish west coast). According to science it is formed from basalt lava which cooled at just the right speed to create the weird hexagonal columns. Whichever is the case it is one of the geological wonders of the World and by far the most famous thing to come out of Northern Ireland (with the possible exception of the Troubles).

Here's Andrew right down by the end of the Causeway during his Northern Ireland trip on 20th April 2001 as photographed by some bloke who happened to be there and convenient.
