GALLERY 2001 : Picture Six

Here's Andrew halfway up Apparition Hill in Medugorje, Bosnia and Hercegovina during his Balkans trip on 21st July 2001.

The Hill in Medugorje has become a place of pilgrimage after six local children saw an apparition of the Virgin Mary here in 1981. Since that time they have received a daily message from the Virgin and the town has received many thousands of pilgrims.

During the War in the early 1990s Medugorje was one of the few places in Bosnia not to be affected.
