Denbighshire, now part of Clwyd, is one of those counties that gets hurried through by people on their way to the spectacle of Snowdonia. The area is not without its charms including as it does Llangollen, one of Wales' most beautiful towns and the home of the International Eisteddfod. Other towns include Wrexham, Ruthin, Denbigh and the smallest city in Britain, St. Asaph.

The area has a good selection of Castles, including those at Denbigh, Chirk and Ruthin as well as Powis Castle.
