MARR CHURCH

Malta

The church in Mgarr is one of the newer churches of Malta. Construction work began only in 1912. It was intended to be built as a smaller version of the Mosta Dome Church. The odd shape of the dome is explained by the fact that the church was funded largely by locals selling eggs – some 300,000 of them! Despite all this fund raising the church was not completed until 1946.
